March 1, 2019

Index score deadline for companies with more than 1,000 employees

Sept. 1, 2019

Index score deadline for companies with more than 250 employees

March 2019 to 2022

Scores must be calculated annually. When ratings fall below 75, companies must take corrective action to reduce pay inequalities.

March 1, 2022

Companies with more than 250 employees that have not achieved a score of at least 75 will be subject to financial penalties up to 1% of their payroll.

1. Removing wage gaps

40 points

Companies must achieve a 0% wage gap between women and men at comparable jobs and ages. For now, at post and equal age, women are  paid 9% less than men in France.

2. Equal opportunity for pay increases

20 points

To get full points, a company must increase as many men as women, to 2% or close to 2 people.

3. Equal opportunity for promotion

15 points

The maximum score is awarded to the company  if it promotes as many women as men, to 2% or close to 2 people.


4. Women's salaries are increased equally upon return from maternity leave

15 points

If pay increases were granted during the woman's leave, her salary must be increased on her return. On average, a mother of three children earns 10% less than a woman without children on the same job.


5. At least 4 women rank in the top 10 in earnings

10 points

This score aims to ensure a balanced representation of women and men in management positions.
