Challenge
Meeting new demands for flexibility and transparency
In 2015, as Randstad’s operations expanded in scale and complexity, so did the demands on its compensation strategy. The company needed to move beyond rigid, one-size-fits-all compensation models to support multiple bonus structures, including KPI-driven team bonuses and discretionary individual awards. The existing SAP-based solution lacked the flexibility to support new performance-linked models and could not deliver the transparency or ease-of-use that Randstad wanted for its employees and managers.
Randstad Germany specifically sought a system that could accommodate complex organizational hierarchies and exceptions, handle varied eligibility rules, and support transparency for employees, managers, and works councils. The system also had to allow for quick adjustments in response to market dynamics, and provide timely, actionable reporting.
In 2024, as Randstad Digital joined forces with GULP Schweiz, the company further sought a solution to deliver sales incentives to its Swiss sales team of 200 representatives.
Solution
Enabling modern compensation management with beqom
To address these challenges, Randstad implemented beqom’s Total Compensation Platform to manage both quarterly and annual bonus programs. The solution automated key workflows such as budget allocation, performance-linked payouts, and manager-level distribution of discretionary bonuses. Bonus budgets were calculated based on profit and other weighted factors, then cascaded through the organization so that managers could award bonuses based on individual and team performance.
The beqom platform integrated seamlessly with existing data sources, handled complex eligibility scenarios using custom hierarchy mapping, and generated payment files and reports for payroll integration. The project was implemented quickly with strong user adoption and minimal risk, laying the groundwork for further automation in areas like salary review.
Adding beqom for sales performance management gave Randstad Digital the ability to integrate the GULP sales force and manage their incentive compensation on the familiar and flexible beqom platform.
